Asheville Kid Friendly

There are many activities to enjoy during your time in Asheville.  We have listed a few that we have enjoyed with our families. (photo by KidFriendlyAsheville.com)     If your kids are outdoor enthusiasts, then you may want to take a day trip along the Blueridge Parkway. At Graveyard Fields you can hike to the water falls or head to the top of Pisgah. The views along the Parkway are breathtaking.  The family can even look for caches with the GPS.   Asheville Pizza Company offers fun for the whole family where you can watch a kid friendly movie while enjoying one of their famous pizzaz or a plate of nachos. They even have a game room for the kids to play.      Lake Lure has many activities to offer the kids and family. Enjoy a day at the lake with sand and some cool water slides. Located next to Lake Lure is Chimney Rock, known recently for the filming of The Last of the Mohicans. They even have a little strip of novelty shops at Lake Lure. You can park and walk. See the sights and buy some sweet homemade fudge and little souvenirs.   While downtown strolling through the wonderful boutiques and art galleries, be sure to stop by Chocolate Fetish for a delightful snack. Their chocolates are famous in this region and with such combinations as wasabi and fudge, the tastebuds are sure to smile!   Younger children might enjoy a visit to the WNC Nature Center. They have a small petting zoo, deers, bears, wolves, and even a cougar. There is a a firendly little otter that loves swimming through his area and up to the looking window to impress the children.  There is a park for the kids to swing and slide and there are usually ice cream and candy vendors.      Don't worry if it rains, there is still fun to be found. The Fun Depot offers a large indoor area for all types of games. Bowling. Go carts. Bumper Cars. Video Games. Mini Golf. A soft play area the kids will love to play in. The smaller kids can play in the play area for $3.00 ALL DAY! There is also plenty of food for the kids - burgers and pizza!! ALL INSIDE!!!   Located in downtown Asheville in Pack Place, The Health Adventure features two levels of hands-on exhibits, a changing exhibits gallery with top-notch and blockbuster traveling exhibits, and enriching programs that seek to improve health awareness, promote wellness lifestyles, and increase science literacy." Whether you enjoy strolling through gardens, exploring exhibits, enriching your mind or hiking and biking, The Arboretum offers activities for all ages, including a 434 acre natural treasure with 65 acres of cultivated gardens and 10 miles of hiking and biking trails. The Arboretum also has gift shops and a lovely cafe, The Savory Thyme Cafe.
