Biltmore Estate
Biltmore Estate is a “must” on the list of places to see and visit in the Asheville area. Completed in 1895, George and Edith Vanderbilt’s Asheville, NC 250-room French château country retreat is a real life wonder.
The self-guided house visit reveals how people lived and worked here at Biltmore. Learn all about the Vanderbilts, plus view displays of vintage clothing, and period pieces that show what it was like to live in or visit America’s largest home. Or stroll acres of formal and informal gardens designed by America’s foremost landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, including a Rose Garden and a 200 acre Azalea Garden.
At the Antler Hill Village and Winery you’ll find the Farm where you can explore what farm life was like in the early 1900s and see the exhibits in the historic barn while blacksmiths, woodworkers, and other craftsman provide demonstrations. The estate’s former dairy complex houses The Biltmore Winery. As America’s most visited winery, you will learn about the craft of wine making.
There are also plenty of outdoor activities to explore while visiting here including biking, fly-fishing school, guided horseback trail rides, river float trips and more.
A visit to Biltmore Estate is a great way to spend a day in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, NC.
