WNC Arts | Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival | June – July 2010

The Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival is in its 32nd year, and this year’s musicians are not to be missed.  Pianist Inessa Zaertsky, who has been with the festival for more than a decade, will be playing again this year, along with  Tracy Rowell on contrabass, general director Paul Nitsch doing two performances on piano, new bassoonist Lynn Hileman, flutist George Pope, oboist Cynthia Watson and clarinetist David Bell.   Additional musicians performing are The Parker String Quartet , Trio Terzetto (cellist Tana Ell is the daughter the festival’s founder) and guest violinist Peter deVries will play the annual Frank Ell concert on July 11-13.

The festival plays each program at the Performing Arts Center in Waynesville and at Kittredge Theatre at Warren Wilson College.

When: 7:30 p.m. June 20, 27, July 4, 11 and 18, Performing Arts Center, Waynesville, and 7:30 p.m. June 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, Kittredge Theatre, Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa. (Note earlier start time than past years). Free lecture-demonstration programs 7 p.m. Thursday, and June 24, and July 1, 18 and 15, Kittredge Music Building, Warren Wilson College.
Tickets: $75 season subscription. $20 single admission, free for students age 25 and younger with ID.
